An Introduction to SysInternal's BGinfo!!!!!!!!!!


BG Info can be used as an app for individual desktops and laptops as well as big Enterprises to easily look up system specific data at single glance and that too on your Desktop Wallpaper.


Through this you can have a small section of the wallpaper showing various settings on your computer as well as domain- The setting can of the various options you have below.

You can always use this on your domain which can be real life and time saver for Support Techs while working on client systems.

Steps:


* Open BGinfo and create a template choosing the various setting you want it to display on the system.
*Save the file (saved in .bgi extension)
*Open up a notepad and add the following script in it and save it as a .bat file.(for eg: bginfo.bat)

IF EXIST C:\bginfo\yourfile.bgi c:\bginfo\bginfo.exe c:\bginfo\yourfile.bgi /timer:0 /silent /nolicprompt

(Note: make sure you customize the location and name for the files as per your settings)

*Now create a Shared Folder on your network drive and add the files bginfo.exe, (custom).bgi and bginfo.bat in that folder


* Open GPMC and create a GPO for eg: BGInfo Script and edit this GPO as described i the image below.


Add the location of the bginfo.bat file to the logon script.

Link the GPO as required.


*Start->Run-> gpupdate /force


Try logging on and voilaaaaaaaa you have your system settings right in front of you.


Additionally you can create a logo for your company and attach it to your .bgi file.
