Error Initializing System
Issue: Received Error "Error initializing system" while installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BES Express
Cause: This error is generally reported when you try to install BES/BESx on a server which previously had another instance of it and was not properly removed.
Resolution:
After you have uninstalled BES/BESx from a server and restarted the system you still have some files and registry entries that might exist on the server. Ensure you remove these before trying reinstall.
Steps to be Performed:
* Locate the folder "Research in Motion" from C:\Program Files(x86) and DELETE it.
* Locate the folder BES_Inst_Temp from C:\Program Files(x86) and DELETE it.
* Clear the %temp% folder
Note: Any registry edits you perform should done after taking a proper backup. Consult http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256986
Open the Registry editor
*Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research in Motion and DELETE the Research in Motion folder
* Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Research in Motion and DELETE the Research in Motion folder
Restart the SERVER and that should take care of it.
*** Results may vary so feel free to consult BlackBerry Official Support Articles before trying these steps
