TeamXchange at Windows Azure Spring Launch - New Delhi, India
Recently TeamXchange was invited for the Windows Azure Spring Launch - New Delhi, India. It was a proud moment for everyone at TeamXchange. Me and AshishAggarwal(TeamXchange -Advertising Guru) were geared up for attending the same and truly speaking had a great time!!! A great presentation by Technical Evangelists' Aviraj Ajgekar and Pracheta made some concepts that were misunderstood, crystal clear to TeamXchange. It was a jam packed session with IT Professionals from different companies as well as students.
The session started with a handpicked pretty volunteers (sorry but that really needed a mention :p) assisting guests with their pre-generated individual I-Cards and not to mention which looked awesome. You can see the pics below :
After entering inside the Royal Ballroom of Hilton Eros Hotel, it really felt like a lost world for the first time but later things started to settle. At the Ballroom corner Microsoft had Windows Azure Booths setup where you could register for the Free Trial for Windows Azure for the next 3 months but later we came to know you had to enter your credit card details and they were deducting $1 from your account.
But Microsoft did the magic again with a $1 Registration we received a 3 month free access to Windows Azure but also a 8GB Flash Drive!!!!!!! Great DEAL !!!!!!!!!!!
The sessions started late by an hour(and thats common for IST-Indian Slow Time).
Aviraj came with a bang and this guy promised an exciting Seminar which was divided into 3 sessions as follows:
1. Overview of Windows Azure(Virtual Machines\Cloud Services\Websites) - By Aviraj
This session was an eye opener cuz I felt there are still many students as well as Professionals who still do not have an idea of the classification between the TYPE 1 and TYPE 2 Hypervisors.He came up with the Cloud types (SaaS,Iaas,PaaS) and for me it was an eye opener cuz as of now I knew Windows Azure only offered PaaS(Platform as a Service) for developers and hence had very less interest in it. But after Aviraj cleared those concepts the interests jumped in and there were questions coming in like Christiano Ronaldo for the GoalPost(The Euro2012 fever). And I think the presenter did a great job excluding the fact that some questions were still not answered as the product is still in a Beta Like Phase!!!
Not to forget lastly this session had a small moment where the virtual machine, i think the UBUNTUDPE01 didnt boot up due to a poor Internet connection. All in all a session which made the Aviraj's next session much more awaited.
2. Windows Azure Virtualization at a Glance - By Pracheta
The best thing i liked about Pracheta was she's a Sharp Shooter she wont beat around the bush and answered to the the point. Also she showed this great teamwork between her and Aviraj by quickly controlling the driving seat when the latter was resolving an Internet Connection glitch. Great job guyz!!!!!!! This session had Memory, core allotment and many other features explained. Not to worry in the coming posts TeamXchange will be giving you an indepth analysis for the same.
3. Windows Azure Active Directory, SharePoint, SQL Integration - By Aviraj
This was a session to lookout for where concepts of virtualizing AD on Azure were explained with proper demos.
Azure now has an inbuilt interface very similar to the upcoming Server 2012 and also gives you options to install Server 2012 OS and many others in a few clicks. Though Mac and Sun Solaris are not yet supported.
The session eneded with Lunch. All in all a great experience.
