Error 0x80070057 occurs when you create an Outlook 2010 profile by using the Auto Account Setup process for an Exchange 2003 mailbox

The following error is mainly encountered for organizations running Exchang 2k3 and using Outlook 2010 clients. This is generally an Audtodiscover failure.




The following issue can be resolved by the following steps:

1.  Create a custom autodiscover.xml file by making required changes in this template.

    <Account>
      <AccountType>email</AccountType>

        <Type>EXCH</Type>
        <Server>E2K3.test.com</Server>
      </Protocol>
    </Account>
  </Response>
</Autodiscover>


*** Just change the servername

Save this file either on the Local Disk or ona SHared Location to be used by other clients.

2. Make the following Registry Change:

Now On the Outlook client, deploy the following registry data:
Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover

DWORD: PreferLocalXML
Value: 1
String: the name of your domain
Value: the path of the Autodiscover.xml file that includes the file name

Now, try using AutoDiscover.............. :) :)

    "Server Name" is the internet address (remote.contoso.com)and domain is the windows domain (CONTOSO)?

  2. You need to type in the full computer name of your Exchange server!!! Eg: exch2k3.contoso.com!!!!

  4. Nice content thanks for sharing with Us. For MS Office - One of which most common one is the error displaying Microsoft Office encountered error during setup. Mostly this error comes while installing MS Office 2019. On closing the dialog box out this message another error is being displayed mentioning “Microsoft setup bootstrap has stopped working “. If you wish you can try to resolve the error by delete the registry keys.

  5. Looking for AOL mail is UP and reachable by us. the above graph displays service status activity for mail.aol.com over the last 10 automatic checks. and have error in searching feature i.e. (AOL email login, AOL news) and many people has the same error.
