Windows Search Indexing Fix- Outlook Search Issue related

We all have come across an irritating prompts in MS Outlook for searches being slow or other indexing prompts:
It is pretty obvious that we though do not realize that this can be our mistake. We are in an era where most of the OL users have pst files more than 2 GB or multiple psts. What we forget is to give the indexing some time.

As a result the index tries to rebuild its search territory time and again and hence not being able to complete the process.

The step mentioned below is an advanced troubleshooting step and should be tried only after the ones mentioned in the posts below:

If these dont work try this out:

LINEAR LOGICAL :
If we get any issues on outlook search then first we need to diagnose the problem :
  1. Check whether we can carry out search for e-mail or contacts outside outlook or windows mail.
  1. Make sure that pst is getting indexed in Indexing Options under Control Panel.
  1. Check in outlook /safe and make sure that the outlook inbulit search in working fine.

If the Issue turns out to be windows search engine then the first step should be to rebuild the index from scratch :
>Open CMD (On vista we need to run in elevated mode) and type “Net Stop Wsearch” without quotes.
>Then go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Search and change the value of SetupCompletedSuccesfully” from 1 to 0.
>Open cmd again and type “Net Start Wsearch” without quotes.
>Wait till the SetupCompletedSuccesfully key changes its value to 1.

NOTE : you will have to refresh the registry while waiting.

Now after this the most important part is to re add your pst file to the Indexing areas and Leave your computer overnight with Outlook open.

IF this does not work then we need to remove all the windows search registry keys :
  1. Follow KB 944391 and remove search service
  1. Reinstall the latest version of windows search.

FOR OUTLOOK ISSUES WE CAN ALSO TRY ADDING THE REGISTRY :
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search and create a DWORD value EnableOutlookIndexing and make its value to 1.

FOR WINDOWS MAIL ISSUE :
  1. Rebuild the data store
  1. Go to Indexing Options and under that click on advanced>File types and make sure that the .eml file is checked.
  1. Try new windows user account.
