Add Photos to AD: CodeTwo Active Directory Photos: An Introduction

Hi guyz, in this post we introduce a new product launched by Code Two Team named CodeTwo Active Directory Photos. This tool lets you integrate photos of users in Active Directory which can be integrated to

  • Outlook 2010 messages
  • Outlook Contact Cards
  • Global Address Lists
  • Active Directory photos in Lync 2010
  • Also, Email Signatures

The application needs to be installed on a system which has Active Directory for the organization concerned.

Installation Procedure:

That's it for the Installation part!!!!

Now we have a great friendly interface for the application and very much self explanatory.

The application automatically loads up users while startup and you can start adding photo to users manually or using the Bulk Import option

Here, I have clicked on Choose Photo and added it to one of the users. Thats it, you should be able to see the image in his mails, Contacts, GAL and Lync!!!

Here you can see the Standard Dimension used in Outlook is 96x96 pixels. Also, you have a preview of how the picture will turn up.

After my first day of testing I received a follow up mail from the Code 2 AD team with this very simplified step in regards to Bulk Upload user pics.

Apart from uploading employees’ photos to Active Directory one-by-one, you can import entire photo folders? What’s
more, the pictures will be automatically matched with users. Here’s how to do it:

1. Save users’ photos to one folder and name them so that they correspond with Active Directory fields of given users, e.g. First Name and Last Name. In this case each of your pics would need to be saved according to this pattern: Peter.Stone.jpg, Michael.Cooper.jpg, Leona.Luck.jpg and so on.

2. Click Import in the top menu of CodeTwo Active Directory Photos.

3. Select your photo folder and file name pattern combination, and click Next to let the wizard do the rest for you.

So after all these lets see where changes take affect:

The Outlook Welcome Screen greets the user with their pic :)

User Pics available on GAL

Free Busy Info with Users PIC

User Pics on their Communicators

All in all a great tool for Enterprises and Employee Engagement. 2 Thumbs UP the Code2AD Team. Keep it COMING@!!!!!
